We are so glad to be invited to go to this show. Actually, our friend is the lighting designer of this show. When she told us that we can go to the show she was working on, we are do excited and so proud of her.
We didn’t know about the show before we go since we just so interested in the light part. After we get there and reading some more information about “Quixote Nuevo”. We are so happy we go. It’s a very interesting and meaningful show. It’s written by “Octavio Soils” a famous Latino writer and inspired by a Spanish novel “Don Quixote”. It’s a story about a elder man imaged himself being a hero at a border town of Texas searching for his lost love. It’s about the immigration, about the elder people. It’s a very meaningful show. The main character “Don Quixote” is played by “Emilio Delgado“, who played “Luis” in Sesame Street, I was surprised that I didn’t recognize him at the first moment.
Not just about the show, the place held the show is very interesting, too. We have been to Berkeley so many times but we didn’t know there is a theater in the mountain! California Shakespeare Theater has a office in Berkeley, but the performing venue is actually in Orinda. The stage is in the middle of the mountain. We were a little lost when we got there. But you can see a small box office at the gate. The office is not open before the show. The gate is open since I believe some people just come here for walk or hiking. It’s a beautiful place.
The stage is surrounded by trees. It’s so beautiful, first time seeing this kind of stage!
Those trees are huge~
People are having picnic on the other side of the venue, nice picnic area!
We got the program and people are trying to find the seats. It’s reserved seat 😛
There is 15min intermission in the middle. We used this chance to get the blankets. It’s getting cold at night even it’s the runner since it’s in the middle of the mountains! They are so nice of blanket rental there.
The nice ending of the show! We love it so much! They are extended to play until 7/7, you should definitely go if you can. Ticket information here, http://calshakes.org/v4/ourplays/2018/2018_quixote.html.
